To qualify, a family's NET income (after subtracting childcare costs and payroll taxes such as Social Security tax, Medicare tax, and income tax) must be greater than the Medicaid level, but cannot exceed 140 percent of the Federal poverty level. We have used a gross income test (total income before taxes) on Benefits.gov because this is a good indicator of potential eligibility. However, you must apply for benefits to know for sure whether or not you will qualify for this program. Please visit the North Dakota Healthy Steps website to learn more about the program and the eligibility criteria or call our toll-free number.
